Sew Mama Sew Giveaway #2

Posted on December 13, 2010 by Bonnie

Handmade with love, each of the items sold at Sewing Hope for Asia’s new Etsy store represents the hope of new life for women in South Asia. One hundred percent of the proceeds from each purchase goes directly to the Asian mission field to provide women with sewing machines of their own, so they can create and sell beautifully stitched items to provide for themselves and their families.

I’m so excited to be a part of this new venture to allow crafters to create and donate items to benefit families in need in Asia. Sewing Hope for Asia has donated a beautiful handmade 18″ doll outfit for me to give away in Sew Mama Sew’s Giveaway Day to help spread the word.

The seamstress who created this outfit and the many others that you’ll find available at Sewing Hope shares her vision of using her sewing machine and her skills as a seamstress to bring hope to women on the other side of the world here: Madelyn’s Story.

To enter to win, simply leave a comment here sharing either who you’d love to give this doll outfit to or how you enjoy blessing others with your craft skills. The winner will be chosen at random on December 18th. (We’ll be a little busy with a wedding the night before, so it may take me until Sunday to post.) If you have questions about donating handmade items to Sewing Hope, please contact Gospel for Asia at 1-800-WIN-ASIA (946-2742) or email strategicgiving@gfa.org.

If I were to win this, it would go to my little Emmalyne, who is currently consumed with her American Girl dolls.

As far as blessing others with crafts and sewing. I like to share and donate from my big from my stash of fabric that I have been blessed with. It is always such a blessing when someone gets a surprise fluffy package and are all excited about it and share what they plan to create.

Our church has a “Giving Tree” where we wrap up presents for kids that are in shelters around the city. I have an 18″ doll I would love to dress in that outfit to put under the Giving Tree.

I love this mission! Since I am preparing to have my baby soon, I want to make sure to get my other children something special. I made my son a robot pillow/stuffie (we designed it together, but I think he forgot about it!) and got my daughter a doll (thank God for thrift stores!). But the poor doll is naked! I was going to make a dress or something for her, but I’m not able to get out of bed. But God’s power is certainly perfected in our weakness…
On a totally unrelated subject – do you know how I can subscribe to your blog? I’ll keep looking around…. Thanks so much!

I would love to give this to my daughter–she loves her American Girl dolls! I love to have warm toes, so I recently knitted a pair of warm socks for a friend who just had surgery–just a little something to let her know I care. Thanks for the chance to win!

Well, I love to make things for other people. I was just recently reminded that I made my cousin a plastic canvas watch when I was 8! That was 20 years ago (yeah, I know I’m really not that old 🙂 Anyway, so I’ve been making and giving stuff a way for as long as I can remember.

While I’d love this outfit for my daughter, I think I would give it to our neighbor girl if I win, simply because she would be able to use it right away while my girl is still a little young for dress up doll clothes.

    Thanks!
