Can you believe that it’s already time for first days of school?! This trio of mine starts preschool and kindergarten on Monday! They are beyond excited, and I loved the idea of celebrating this milestone with handmade outfits! When the opportunity for a blog tour combining Project Run & Play patterns with Raspberry Creek Fabrics came my way, I couldn’t possibly say no!
On my first scroll through Raspberry Creek Fabric’s Back-to-School collection, I fell in love with the Encyclopedia Britannica fabric. Doesn’t it look absolutely like something Ms. Frizzle would wear on a Magic School Bus journey? We’re big fans of The Frizz’s amazing field trips, and Wonder Girl here lives in dresses! I knew right away this was the choice for her.
I picked Abby’s Spin + Twirl Dress for its comfort, style, and spin-ability! It has a variety of options to choose from. I used the empire bodice with the long circle skirt and 3/4 sleeves.
I coupled it with Frances Leggings in sage green jersey, so our Wonder Girl can spin, twirl, flip, and roll to her heart’s content. Both of these patterns were easy to follow with amazing results, and they’re great wardrobe staples!
For the boys, I chose the Vintage Look Alphabet panel and used it in two different t-shirt styles for a matching but not too matchy finish.
Our newest Kindergartener got an Eclipse T-shirt with Four Seasons Joggers. I used a child-size Vintage Look Alphabet Panel with white jersey for the main parts of the shirt and charcoal jersey for the neckline. I picked the Round Neck T-shirt option for a traditional, everyday t-shirt. The pattern and the panel go together perfectly!
His joggers are mainly cotton French terry with jersey for the waistband, pockets, and cuffs. Oh, and jersey for the drawstring, too! The Four Seasons pattern includes a great tip on how to turn a strip of jersey into a tube so you can get a perfectly matching drawstring.
I added a little extra detail to his Eclipse tee with coordinating topstitching on the sleeves and hem.
Boy Wonder’s shirt is an Up Beet Tee, and his bottoms are Four Seasons joggers like his older brother. These pants are so cute! The no-elastic waist makes them super comfortable, and the rounded pockets are both stylish and practical. By “practical” I mean, of course, that they’ll hold plenty of rocks, crayons, leaves, and other preschool collections! Note to self: check the pockets on laundry day!
It’s nearly impossible to get these three to smile for the camera, but I promise they love their new outfits! They could not wait to try them on, and they’re asking (over and over and over) when they get to wear them for school!
I love that they’re going to be stylish and comfortable! I made the decision to go with short-sleeve tops and long pants so that these outfits will give them plenty of wear through the fall here in Florida, and with the addition of a light jacket, they’ll carry them right through winter and into spring!
It’s a little bittersweet that summer is wrapping up, but I’m so excited for all the new things that these three will learn this year! Maybe they’ll even get to go on some unbelievably adventurous field trips?
