Treat Bags and a Tutorial

Posted on October 28, 2010May 27, 2021 by Bonnie

I just did not have time to sew costumes for my children this year, but I think I made up for it a bit with these fun treat bags. They are really fast to put together, and, unlike most costumes, we can put them up to use again next year!

The design allows them to sit open like this when you pull the handles apart so that you can see the goodies inside:

But when you pick the bag up and pull the handles together, the bag closes up like this to keep treats safe and sound inside. Pretty cool, huh?

Ready to make one or two or a dozen? You can find the tutorial right here: Treat Bag Tutorial. If you sew up any, please be sure to share pictures. I would love to see!

I might have to try this, though not for candy since I’m a little late seeing it. 🙂 Thank you so much for the tutorial. You are so talented!

Where is the tutorial for these darling bags? I can’t seem to find it on your site. Right after your description it jumps to comments – but no instructions. 🙁 I really want to make these!

      Hi, Mindi!
The link is in that very last paragraph. I changed the color of the link so that it’s a little more obvious. Thanks for the comment! Enjoy!

I love this, it’s so simple!
I think I’m going to make a huge version for myself to carry my teaching stuff in. I have wanted a bag that will hold itself open when I put it down and close up when I carry it over my shoulder for ages, and you’ve inspired me.
    Thanks
    Claire

I see the Tutorial I was just wondering if I missed something because I read cut out pattern pieces but I think it’s just measurements not actual pieces.

        Thank you 🙂

Hello. I pulled out a couple of these bags (I made a few years ago) while getting ready for Halloween. I thought I would like to make some more, but when I click on treat bag tutorial, it brings me right back to this page. Is there some where else to get the pattern/tutorial? Thank you.
