100th Post Giveaway and a Chance to Give!

Posted on November 30, 2009 by Bonnie

Wow! Just over a year of blogging, and I’ve reached my 100th post! I love sharing my family, my ministry and my sewing with each of you, and I especially enjoy hearing from you and getting to “know” each of you. It’s exciting to watch how my number of blog readers is continuing to increase. (Of course, our family size is increasing a bit, too, as you can tell by the size of my belly in the picture to the right.) Christmas is quickly approaching, so I want to offer a gift to each of you, a chance to win an even bigger gift and the opportunity to know the joy of giving something to a family in need.

First, a way for you to give a gift to a poor family in Asia and maybe even mark off a few names on your Christmas list at the same time: Having trouble coming up with a gift idea for that relative who already has everything? Perhaps a gift in his or her honor for the poor in another country would be the perfect thing! As Gospel for Asia staff members, my husband and I often get to hear the incredibly heart-warming stories of how blessed people are to receive the gifts given through the GFA Christmas Catalog. Because I love to sew, the ability to give the gift of a sewing machine to a poor family in Asia brings me great joy! You can read for yourself a few stories on the GFA website about how much the gift of a sewing machine can help out a family in need: Christmas Gifts Warm Body and Heart and Stitching Her Garments with a Grateful Heart. If you’d like to check out how you can give a sewing machine, or other gifts like chickens, blankets, even a water buffalo, visit GFA’s Christmas Catalog online.

Second, a gift for all of my readers: This week only, from November 30th through December 6th, you can use the code “BlogPost100” in my store to receive a 15% discount on any pattern order. I’m even adding a preorder option for the new Little One Jammies Pattern which should be ready to ship by Monday, December 7th.

Finally, the big giveaway! In celebration of my 100th post, I am giving away a full set of all eight of my patterns and 5 yards of knit fabric to sew into beautiful clothing for your little one. The winner will get to choose from one of the two sets of fabric shown–either the boys’ set or the girls’ set.

For your first entry into the drawing, just leave a comment on this post with which of my patterns you like the best and why, or leave a comment about which of my patterns you’d most like to try and why. For an additional entry, blog about this post or blog about GFA’s Christmas catalog and email me the link to your post. You can enter anytime between now and noon central time on Friday (December 4, 2009). (Please note that I will cover the postage if the winner is inside the US. If you win and you live outside of the US, you’ll need to cover any postage cost above $10.)

Bonnie, I can’t tell you how much I love to read your blog and I couldn’t decide on 1 pattern of yours even if I had to. Your work is fantastic and you are such a great mom. The kids are great looking. I like the comment about your oldest sons t-shirt.

I adore all of your patterns, right now our favorite is the Patrick Raglan, it’s so nice to have a cute BOY pattern. We also get a ton of use out of the AJ bottoms.

What a sweet idea! Thanks for the GFA link…

It’s hard to pick a favorite pattern, because I love the looks of all of them. I haven’t bought any yet, but I plan to – they all look great!

  44. Megan says:
    December 1, 2009 at 12:24 am

Wow, that is one generous giveaway! And I’m glad that you promoted GFA, that is awesome! I think I would love to try the Sammi Grace bag pattern the most, because I can use it right now. I would also like to try the layette pattern, but I want to wait until I have kids (or at least I am prego) for that one. And for the fabric – I would love the boy fabric, because a good friend just had a boy and I can make him something. Thanks so much!

  45. Anna says:
    December 1, 2009 at 1:29 am

  48. Jamie B says:
    December 1, 2009 at 2:33 am

Okay, where’s the bag over the head smilie when I need it! I’ve admired all the SNS posts on DSD of our patterns and have purchased the Emmy and the Patrick–oh, and downloaded the instructions to turn it into a hoodie…someday! I don’t yet have a favorite, but as my babies are getting bigger (and bigger and bigger) I can’t wait for the bigger jammies pattern to come out!

All of you patterns look adorable. I’m especially fond of the Little Fishies Undies. I feel like my DS (age 3) gets left out a lot while I’m sewing a bunch of dipes for DD (5months). I think he’d love some undies made by Mommy. 🙂 Can’t wait for Christmas money!

The boys love them, and I can use it for ODD as is, and I’ve also added length and flared it out for nightgowns and dresses, added pouch pockets, and have plans to make hooded versions too. It’s just incredibly versatile!

I love the Little One Layette pattern. Two reasons, really: 1) it’s most applicable, as my little one is just the right size, and 2) I’ve wanted to make one for awhile but thought that it sounded quite hard, so a thorough pattern is just what I need!

  69. amanda says:

What a generous giveaway! I don’t currently own any of your patterns, but I like the look of the new Jammies pattern. Anything that has extra room in the bahookey built in for cloth diapers is a winner in my book.

Also, thanks for the link to GFA. I’ve definitely got some family members who don’t need any more “stuff” but would appreciate others receiving needed items in their name.

I love the Emmy shirt and dress pattern. I have two girls one age 4 and the other 11 so this pattern would be great to make them matching tops. I love to do that. I also like the pattern because that is the name of my youngest. It is just spelled different. The bag pattern also looks fun to try as well.

    Hi,
I just found your blog and patterns through the SMS giveaway. I like the newborn layette most – maybe because I’d like to sew it for a friend’s newborn. Congratulations for all your patterns.

First let me say that I love your blog. Not only do I love seeing all your lovely projects, but I enjoy seeing your happy family with your wholesome family values!
My favorite pattern would probably be for your child training pants (I can’t remember what you call them). I’ve always been a little skeptical of home made undies and diapers, but I’m willing to learn!

Hard to choose just one to try…I’ve not made clothing out of knit before, but the fabrics you are giving away sure make it tempting! Would love either the Emmy shirt/dress for big girls, or the boys raglan for little boys. I’d choose the boy stack of fabrics for my year old grandson!

Hi, I’ve actually just started reading your blog. I mostly knit, but in the summers I turn in my needles for my sewing machine. So I haven’t made any of your patterns but I think I would most like to make the baby layette. I enjoy your blog for many reasons but mostly because it is so Christ filled and those kinds of blogs are hard to find and two you have a large family too. I’m expecting my fifth child this March/April. Congrats on your new baby and Merry Christmas.
