I mentioned this mini quilt in a post a few weeks ago: Apartment Decorating on a Budget. I’ve been enjoying making mini quilts quite a bit lately, and I love the little pop of color and softness they add to a room. When I made plans to spend a weekend helping my oldest daughter decorate her new apartment, I knew that a mini quilt would be the perfect house-warming gift!
I asked her to tell me what colors she was planning to use in the room, and then I teased her a little that green, brown and black sound an awful lot like camo! Thankfully, this quilt doesn’t look at all like it belongs in a hunting cabin! My younger daughter chose most of the fabrics in a visit to our local quilt shop, Boutique 4 Quilters, and after an encouraging conversation with the shop owner, Anita, I thought I’d try out some curves! These were way easier than I expected! I just drafted up a simple Drunkard’s path template and cut several of both parts from each fat quarter that I was using for the quilt. Once the pieces were cut, I arranged and re-arranged until I was happy with the haphazard look of the layout, then I pieced it all together. For the quilting, I just stitched in circles following the lines of the quilt. I love when the quilting design is easy! Here’s another quick look at the finished mini in it’s spot in Morgan’s apartment. Checking this one off on my 2015 Finish Along list!
I love mini quilts…fast, easy, finished…..Love your daughter’s fabric choices….
I’ve never made the Drunkards Path and a mini quilt would be a perfect size to try!!! Love the fabrics you used!!
Lovely!
