I mentioned a few weeks ago that I’m working on adding a section to my website of “extras” that you can add to your Go Fish Series patterns. These will all be free downloads, and I think that sewing them will help you build skills that you can take to your other sewing, too!
My first Go Fish Extra is this quick tutorial for adding a zippered pocket to the front of your Go Figure Tech Bag. The GFTB is a zippered tote that you customize to fit your electronic device …. tablet, e-reader or laptop. There’s this perfect point on the outside for a giant zippered pocket. This is actually one of those things that I wanted to include in the original pattern, but since these are designed as tri-fold sewing cards in paper format, sometimes I just run out of room!

My kids (age 8 & almost 10) take a computer programming class twice a week. We bring our own laptops, and usually I end up just stacking them and carrying them in myself while the kids run ahead. I’d love to teach them how to carefully carry their own computers to the class (it’s heavy carrying two!) but I don’t have any cases for them. This might be just the thing! Thanks for this! 🙂
Oh, I think this would be a great idea for your kids’ laptops for computer programming class! The one in these pictures actually became mine after I finished the tutorial, and I have used it over and over again for traveling with my laptop. I love that it not only carries my laptop safely, but the fabric is very me! I bet your kids would love picking out their own fabrics!
