I love Fishsticks patterns and have a small collection of them. My favorite gift giving sewing project is the Scrappy Sack pattern from Fishsticks! I’ve adapted the pattern and added various zippered pockets both inside and out, and made a thick quilted lining, made it reversible, made the pattern smaller and made kid sized crossbody bags out of it also. The pattern is so perfect for making it your own with a few tweaks. My crossbody Scrappy Sack is the most well received gift in my world lol!!

I’ve given away a lot of little zip pouches of different sizes and shapes. Also mug rugs make good gifts! Thanks for the chance!

For adults I like making potholders – people always need them (otherwise they continue to use gross stained ones), people people will actually use them (I use to do embroidered tea towels but they just sat in drawers because people didn’t want to “ruin” them), and they are fun to make (they are the perfect size to try out a new technique or quilt block).

My friends are all much better sewers so I don’t make sewn gifts. Someday I hope to make bags for everyone.
