Pillowcases 36, 37, 38, 39 & 40!

Posted on September 15, 2010 by Bonnie

With no time to spare, here are pillowcases #36 and #37: Pirate Bears & Sea Turtles . . .

. . . #38 and #39: Buggies & Froggies . . .

. . . and last, but certainly not least, #40: Apples & Pears!

This project was such a blessing to me, and I honestly feel a little sad that it’s done. Each of these pillowcases represents a child and his or her family in what is surely a very difficult time in their lives. Much prayer was poured out over these pillowcases as I sewed. I hope that this gift given for my 40th birthday brings comfort and joy to those who receive them.

I too have been following your progress (I came upon your site by a pleasant accident) and just wanted to say I am so proud of you! Congratulations and Happy Birthday. I am one of the coordinators for ConKerr, and it’s amazing how these pillowcases really do touch these families lives and minister to their souls when they are in need and even long after the trial is over. They become a special treasure. I am amazed at how many children there are in my community alone with cancer. One is the sibling of my daughter’s classmate who was diagnoised last year on his 4th birthday, and another was a sweet sibling to another one of my children’s schoolmates. She died on her brother’s 5th birthday after an 8 month battle (he had even given her a bone marrow transplant-he was 4 yrs old at the time..what an amazing, brave thing for such a little guy to do). Both their families have commented on how much they LOVE the pillowcases…it changed the scary, sterile white room into something more comforting, warm and inviting. I just wanted to pass that on, to let you know these families really do appreciate the kindness and can feel the love that goes into each one of them. 🙂
