Jamie and I are participating in the Riley Blake Back-to-School Blog Tour today! He’s going into second grade this year, and, like most second-graders, he definitely has his own opinions. He’s been a little bit tough lately when it comes to letting me sew for and then photograph him. This time, I involved him in the whole process. He was really excited that I let him help me choose the fabrics for his outfit, and then he loved having a say in where and how to take the pictures. He did a terrific job, too!
Our selection of fabric for the shorts works perfectly with Jamie’s riverside photos, doesn’t it? We went with Black Anchors cotton quilting fabric from the 2015 Basics line. It was a great choice to pair with my Sand & Sidewalk Boardshorts pattern. I love the topstitching on these shorts!
The fabric held up beautifully to a day of exploring the riverbanks, climbing the rocks and walking the docks. The anchors are pretty stylish, too!
We chose solid lime green knit from the Knit Basics line for the Downtown V-Neck Tee. 
Since the fabric in the shorts is so busy, I stuck with a single color for the shirt and let the rolled edge finishes add some simple detail. The RB cotton/lycra jersey is perfect for that!
Jamie had a blast during our photo shoot, at least until he discovered this sign …
It’s okay. Look at my muscles! I can wrestle a gator if I have to.
Um … wait. I’m smarter than that. Run!!
