Woo-hoo! The Comfy Sleep Set download is all fixed and back up on the Stitch website! If you downloaded it before, please try this one out instead. I think you’ll really like it. At least, I hope you’ll really like it!
Remember this post: Carnival Bloom Skirt? I was so excited about Michael Miller and Moda and their cotton interlocks. I actually mentioned how much I’d love to see some Michael Miller boy prints on interlock, and MM fulfilled my wish with this amazing Dino Dudes interlock! Do you think the folks at MM read my blog? (I want more! Little boys need a selection of adorable designer cotton knits.)
Moving on . . . there’s a giveaway here, I promise! Here’s the latest Comfy Sleep Set that I sewed up for my little guy:
I used my Serger Detailing tutorial to give some extra color to the neck binding in this one:
This cotton/spandex waistband is really awesome. (As a side note, the waistband is cut quite a bit shorter than the opening in the pants where it attaches. You really have to give it a good stretch while you’re sewing it on. The spandex in it will make it bounce right back.) Here are a few pictures of the fit over a cloth diaper. (This is an AI2 that I wouldn’t call super trim or bulky.)
And, here a few pictures of the fit over a disposable diaper:
Ah, the giveaway–that’s what you came here for, right? This week, I’m giving away everything you need to make your own Dino Dudes Comfy Sleep Set: 3/4 yard of Dino Dudes cotton interlock, 1/4 yard of cotton/spandex ribbing and a copy of the Spring 2011 Stitch magazine.
I didn’t forget you moms of little girls, though. If you win and you’d prefer something more feminine than dinosaurs, I’ll let you choose this Mod Blooms cotton interlock, instead.
How to enter:
Entry option #1: Leave a comment here telling me if you were a fabric designer, what would you put on cotton interlock?Β Β What subjects, colors, etc. Β You can link to a favorite fabric, if you’d like, but it’ll take a bit for your comment to post because I’ll have to approve it.
Entry option #2: Like Fishsticks Designs on Facebook: Fishsticks Designs Facebook Fan Page. Yes, I finally put up a FD Fan page. There’s not much there yet. Well, there’s really nothing there yet, but I’m planning to use it for announcements, contests, special discounts, etc.
Entry Option #3: Post something that you’ve made with a Fishsticks Designs pattern on the FD fan page. I can’t wait to see what you have to share!
Giveaway entries will be closed at 10 p.m. central on Tuesday, February 8, 2011.
just liked FD on FB!
My son would like me to say more rocket ships and robots and cool designs on cotton interlock please! Something in bright colours that doesn’t look too young and baby-ish, but still fun! He’s 8yrs old and finds most of my fabric cute, but too “little guy”, if you know what I mean. π
liked you on FB!
just uploaded a pic to the FD FB page
“Like”d you on FB!! So glad you’re finally on there!
I agree, I would like more big boy prints. Firetrucks and police cars and robots π
More boy prints for sure. We’re into robots right now. And by we, I mean me, since Matt doesn’t really have an opinion yet. π
SO many options to enter. Let’s see I would love to see an argyle knit print. Don’t know why but sounds really cute. Mutliple colors available of course. I also joined your FB fan page. And half my kids clothing is from your patterns….lol.
I also liked you on FB!
Boy prints! Im having baby #8 in early April, I just LOVE the Pj’s so I can imagine the neat boy jammies!! :o)
I like you on FB!
I would love more older kids prints, especially for boys, since I can easily find babyish prints for my 3 and 5 year olds, but nothing much for the older set.
Liked fishsticks designs on facebook!
I would have to say more older boy prints as well. Their just not a big selection when it comes to older kids or should I say it’s just plain old solids. Blah!
Oh, I’d probably go with more owls–love those guys and so does my son. Actually, the fabric designers do pretty well for me right now, since I like brown and blue together, too. I haven’t made anything of yours yet, but one of these days I’ll have time to do some tops with the cross-cut shoulders.
Posted a pic on your facebook wall of 2 pairs of little ones jammies when testing the pattern over a year ago!
Left pics on FB… what fun!
oh and IF i were to design my own fabrics…
I’d likely do owls, aliens, or maybe some pirate monkeys. π
I would love to see a train knit for older boys. Browns, oranges, blues, greens – and not cartoon-y.
I “liked” (no, LOVED!) your FB page. Hoping to post some things there soon. π
I would love to see Riley Blake’s All Star and All Star 2 done in cotton interlock! The selection of boy prints in general is slim..and even slimmer in the ‘older’ boys catergory. ODS has never been into cutesy prints, so it’s a challenge to sew for him. I would love to see someone do a nice selection of boy stripes, solids, and dots.
Thanks for the chance to win Bonnie! I love that dino knit too–I need to order some for Jack!
Definitely more “older” boy interlock. My boys are not old yet, but whenever I go to JA, all I see are baby prints for boys.
Yes, more older boy prints! My kindergartner already thinks some of my prints are too babyish. π More stripes and things that aren’t so cartoonish.
I liked your FB page.
I also posted a pic to the FB page. I’ve made *so* many PCRs! Love that pattern.
I was just saying the other day that they need better choices for cotton interlock. I would love some guitars & “funky” prints without skulls. Or just some great plain colors, the nice thick interlock is hard to find in solid colors.
Liked you on FB. π
I would love to have some interlock prints with action heroes. Even comic book heroes like Superman, Batman, Spiderman. I think a print of StarWars or Transformers would do really well. My boys love them all.
Posting some pictures to FB now. My kids LOVE their new boxer briefs!!
Would love to win! π I would love some more elephants on knit fabric.
Liked FD on Facebook. π
"liked" you on Facebook.
I liked you on facebook
I would LOVE to make that DINO set for my little guy! If I were to design some cotton interlock, I would love an All Star 2 print like Bullseye or the Whales from Urban Zoologie or the Large Car print from Wheels. Guess I’m not too hard to please π
THANKS for the chance!

I love that serger detail on the neckline. Super cute!
forgot to put what I would design- for my darling ds it would be one-eyed aliens and for the girl child something with hurricane warning signs!
I like you on FB
I would make knits with pandas, with penguins, and any sort of car/train/truck. Just thinking of what my kids would love : )
I liked your FB page.
I also uploaded a picture of our favorite Emmy top on DD. Thanks for the chance to win. I cant wait to try out the new sleep set!
Liking you on FB!!
I love the dinos! Very cute pjs π I haven’t sewn too much with knits yet to even know what’s out there but some of those really cute Japanese prints out there would make adorable interlock wouldn’t you think? So sweet.
I’d go with tools, farm equipment, and animals. My little guy has two pairs of pants with tools on them and he calls them his “work pants.” It’s just too cute not to want more!
If I were to design some fabrics, I would definitely do some more boy prints, there are so many baby ones but now at 2 they don’t seem to fit for DS unless its for PJs.
LOVE Stitch for fixing the pattern for you, they are wonderful!
Liked your FB page!

If I were a fabric designer… I would do more mod designs for both girls and boys. I find that now that my LO’s are a little bigger, a lot of the cotton interlock is too baby-ish for my LO’s. I have a hard time finding “cool” interlock.
Also, not a design, but I would make the fabric more sturdy. I am so tired of buying store-bought shirts only to have a small hole here or there within a month.
I so hope I win!!!
Very cute again, as usual, Bonnie! I love that print. If I could design a fabric for my guys, it would probably be dinosaurs or monsters playing guitar!
I liked your page on Facebook too. Looking forward to see F&F in my feed!
If I were a fabric designer I would totally do more boy prints. Especially more FUN boy prints. None of this camo stuff. I would love an argyle, or a really cute boy owl or elephant/jungle theme. You can find cute stuff in flannel, but not on interlock.
Just liked your FD on FB!
I liked your fb page. Oh, and as a random note, I would love to have girly dinosaur fabric too. Boys aren’t the only ones who like dinosaurs!
I agree with the more bigger boy and girl prints. (Although there are a lot of girl prints out there…) Especially things that are cute and fun, but not baby. And no skulls, etc. I just loathe all the skull stuff. Maybe even some nice boy prints that would be appropriate for teens and men.
And I love my AH Mothers day print that I am hoarding. I wish it would get reprinted (maybe in some better colors)or for someone else to make a multi-ethnic mom or AP (BFing, babywearing, etc)mom (and dads, too?) fabric.
I liked you on FB.
Liked on FB π
I posted a picture of the bamboo velour Charlie Tee that I made on your FB page.
I think there needs to be more woodgrain cotton interlock prints (only half kidding). π Or what about blades of grass – who would care about grass stains on grass fabric!
I liked you on FB!!! Love the pictures of everything so far!
I just liked you on FB!
Something for girls that isn’t flowers would be great for slightly older girls. I haven’t made any of your patterns yet but I’d love to make the girl pjs for my grand-daughter,I have just got a serger so I need something to try it out on!
I would design things for boys. All sorts of designs, like bugs, cars/trucks, animals with words next to them with their sounds, etc. I have a son and have a hard time finding boy items cute. Most of them are so blah. I’d want bright colors, no pastels. Things that scream “I’m a loud, full of energy, fun loving boy!”
And I’m a fan on facebook =)
I would put organic designs on knits – shapes but not just circle/square/triangle, let’s get a rhombus or octagon up in here, and definitely some more boy options!!
Also, I would try to not use white – why does everything have white backgrounds?? I love the MM knits because they don’t! π
I’m a fan on fb!
I put up a picture of some ruffly undies I made on fb π
I would like to see more boy prints too, on nice thick interlock. I like bugs or Dr Seuss.
Just liked ya on FB
I’d love to see more boy prints. Maybe some tools or what about roboty cogs & gears?
Liked FD on FB
Added a pic of a Charlie hoodie made with anti-pill fleece to the FB fan page
I’d like more robot and space and dinosaur prints — with no words!
I liked your fb page <3
Meccano designs! That’s what Eph would like!
I would love to see some rockets, robots,or pirates. Thanks.
Oh Bonnie I LOVE it!! I love the new knits too and have been trying to stay away. This isn’t helping much……
I love this one!
I’d put cars and trucks, zoo animals, stripes, airplanes and helicopters. For girls I’d love to see more stripes, dolls, bugs (that could be for boys too) and solids.
Ooo, cotton interlock with John Deere tractors or Veggie Tales would be a great hit!! Stuff on darker backgrounds would be great too! Your sets for Charlie are just awesome Bonnie.
love your FB fan page!!
I fgell in love with Reiley Blake and would really love the ALL Star to coem in cotton interlock…it has been aprint that has done so well for me!!
Thanks for the chance to win!
Hmm, I’m not much of a designer. Right now, it’d probably be star wars or mario bros. for my boys and horses for my girl. Nothing too original. I have some of the MM knits as well and LOVE them. No dino dudes yet though. Your patterns look great!
Goodness, all the typos above
Like you on FB!!
Thanks again!
Like you on FB!
Fan on fb
ok so if i win this would you make it for me :O) LOL!
I would do a design of little dears and owls in teal and yellow and pink :O)
I would like the “Owls that Blink” and the “Sprites of Tillbrook” on knit. I think those are two of my favorite fabrics, ever.
I’m so glad you have a fan page, too! I “Liked” you!
I’d design more with tractors and farm scenes. We look all over for knit tractor fabric (especially non- John Deere ) and yeah, doesn’t exist so much.
And I “liked” you on FB. Would have done it without the contest too π
OK I liked you on FB, posted a picture on your FB page and as for what I’d put on interlock hmmmm…… Something geared towards older boys. Nice mature stripes, maybe some cool clipper ships, realistic planes in subtle colors.
I love the dino fabric! Adorable! I would love to see robots, tractors and transformers for my little guy who loves them. I also just became a fan on FB
I’m a big fan of spaceships and aliens, monsters, and monkeys (because it’s what I call my kiddo) π Liking on FB too.
I would love more older girl options for interlock, it’s harder to find prints when your kids move out of the toddler stage.
let’s see, robots in a fun orange, aqua and gray colorway or maybe sweet little woodland creatures in a red, white and aqua colorway… or maybe a super cute pirate print! being a fabric designer would be sooooo fun!
i just went over and “liked” your FB page! i just love your patterns!!
I would love to see more (or any?) girly dinosaur prints, girly robots, large mod animal prints in girl or neutral colors.
Just liked you on FB!
I would love to see some more not-so-babyish boy stuff, especially since one of my girls loves them too and wants to match her (only) little brother! I’d love to see some more giraffe colorways too. π
Liked you on FB!
I would love some boy knits but not babyish. Blues, browns, reds, greens, and orange. Dogs, indian stuff, sandbox stuff, camping stuff, farm stuff all with coordinating plaids and solids and solids with line drawings of circles and squares.
Liked FD on FB.
I would design more transportation type fabrics with motorcycles, race cars and airplanes.
liked you on FB!
If I were to contribute a design idea it would have to be a boy print…there just aren’t enough good ones. Too many baby boy ones too. I think I would go with a robot print. Primary colors, but not too bright/bold, with a classic looking 1950-60ish toy robot design.
Liked you on FB! Love your patterns. Thanks for sharing.
Posted a picture on your FB page
I love “realistic” prints like tropical fish, birds, jungle scenes, etc. Also things like children playing, swingsets, and so on….
I really prints that have a dark background, like khaki or brown, and dragon and knights pictures on them.
I like you on FB!
I posted a picture on the FB page!
I would love to see dragons and knights. Perhaps maybe the little boy looking like he is playing dressup (oversized helmet and shield), and the dragons are friendly.
I liked you on facebook!
More anything boyish! Actually, since my boy is still really young, I’d love to see more animal themed prints. And I’d really just love a bigger selection. I love the other suggestions of knights and rockets too. And pirate monkeys? That’d be cool!
Liked you on Facebook!
Posted a picture of some boxer briefs I made. I love that pattern!
if i were a desginers, i would make COWS. my daughter loves everything cow, and is upset, their aren’t more prints that have lovable coews on them.
friends with you on facebook
I am anxiously awaiting the boxer pattern to make some of those.
I love funky/modern children fabrics. Earth tones with animals or nature items that my kids would see in their day to day adventures.
I personally am not a huge fan of overly printed fabric with designs. I would love to ser more tone on tone fabric or grown up designs like paisley, angle, or random bubbles/circles. I’m all for sewing for my kids but I like to sew for myself & my husband too it would be nice if there were more ‘adult’ friendly prints.
