Remember these fabrics?
It was so much fun to take what would normally be considered a “boy” fabric and make it girly. Here’s the whole set:
The top is a modified version of the Itty Bitty Baby Dress from Made by Rae. I increased the size to 3T, shortened it to make it tunic length and added the ruffle at the bottom. The bottoms are my own AJ Bottoms Shorts lengthened slightly to fall just below the knee with the added ruffle.
I also heard that the little one I was sewing for is just starting to use the potty so I sewed up a few F&J Trainers for her, too.
I’m curious– do you use a pattern for the trainers or is it something you figured out? My son is just about ready to start potty training, so I’ve got trainers on the brain! 🙂
What a cute idea to use what would otherwise be considered boy fabrics. It turned out really cute.

I’ve been looking forward to seeing how that fabric would turn out…very cute!!
I have the same question as Robin. Would you mind sharing where you got the pattern for the trainers?
Hi, Mamas!
The trainer pattern is my own that I sew and sell from at Fishsticks & Jam. I do have an undies pattern for sale, though, that comes with instructions to make trainers. It’s a little different from this one, but still fits very nicely. You can find it at Fishsticks Designs.
OK, so there’s the answer to my question, right there in the comments!! (: Sorry to bug you. SO…I am still a tad confused since F&J looks like it’s on holiday right now — so do you sell the F&J patterns too or just finished garments? Might need to just buy the finished product if I run out of time….
Have a great holiday, I’ll hopefully hear from you when you’re back in August! (:
