This updated version of the traditional brick path quilt block is a great way to shrink that scrap pile! The tutorial will walk you through sewing one pair of 12″ quilt blocks. My finished quilt will have 15 pairs (30 total blocks) arranged 5 blocks across by 6 blocks down for a finished size of 60″ x 72″.

Celebrate the Red, White & Blue – Mini Quilt & Pillow Tutorial
The 4th of July is less than two weeks away! I meant to have this tutorial finished and ready to share weeks ago, but, as often happens around here, life got in the way. (Do I sound like a broken record?) It is a quick sew, though, thanks in part to some of the speedy piecing methods that I used! I made the pillow version above in a few hours on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and I’ll probably keep it on my entry bench year-round. I think it works well with our cottage decor. 100 Days | 100 Blocks – The First 25 Days
I mentioned last month that I was considering joining in the 100 Days 100 Blocks Instagram Challenge again. I knew that if I did it a second time, I wanted to do a themed quilt of sorts. I tossed around a few different ideas, and then settled on a red theme. I LOVE red!! [Read more…] about 100 Days | 100 Blocks – The First 25 Days
100 Days 100 Blocks Quilt Finished!
Caution … photo overload ahead! In August of last year, I ran across an Instagram post by Angie of Gnome Angel where she shared an upcoming challenge. It seemed pretty straight-forward, if a bit overwhelming. Participants would simply sew one 6″ quilt block each day for 100 days. [Read more…] about 100 Days 100 Blocks Quilt Finished!

The Sewing Machine Hideaway ~ Free Pattern & Tutorial
I promised you a fun and practical tutorial, and I think this one checks off both of those boxes perfectly! In our new house, my studio is off to the left as soon as you walk in the front door. I would love to put in French doors so that I can close it off, but for now, I have to keep it neat and clean … at least while I’m not sewing or when we’re expecting company. Having a pretty cover for my machine helps a ton! When I can squeeze in the time, I’m planning to make one for my serger, too. [Read more…] about The Sewing Machine Hideaway ~ Free Pattern & Tutorial
The Farmer’s Wife 1930s Sampler Quilt Prep
I’m so sorry that it’s been so quiet here this past week. We had a little one get sick, and my week was full of appointments, medications, treatments and so much driving. I feel like I buckled, unbuckled and re-buckled a thousand carseats over the last seven days! Thankfully, everyone is on the mend now, and I was able to steal a little bit of time this afternoon to do some quilt planning!
Starting next month, there’s not just one, but two blog sew-alongs that will be working their way through the 2014 edition of The Farmer’s Wife 1930s Sampler Quilt. Quilt-along number 1 is taking place over at Very Kerry Berry. Sew-along #2 can be found at Gnome Angel. [Read more…] about The Farmer’s Wife 1930s Sampler Quilt Prep

Drunkard’s Path Circle Mini Quilt
I mentioned this mini quilt in a post a few weeks ago: Apartment Decorating on a Budget. I’ve been enjoying making mini quilts quite a bit lately, and I love the little pop of color and softness they add to a room. When I made plans to spend a weekend helping my oldest daughter decorate her new apartment, I knew that a mini quilt would be the perfect house-warming gift!
